Most travel involves a little bit of illness as your body comes to terms with different climates, altitudes, food, water and lifestyle. There must be millions of do's and dont's, but here are two told to me by a television foreign correspondent, both designed to improve your resiliance when travelling to new countries....
Top Tip:
Do not drink one hour before or one hour after you eat. This gives your stomach's natural bacteria a chance to tackle new foods wilthout being diluted, giving it every chance of coming out on top
And number two is really for visiting hot climates
Top Tip:
When taking fluids on board try to match the temperature of the climate around you. It is more of a shock to the system to take on litres of chilled fluid and can cause stress to the system. Go for cool or tepid dinks, and drink hot ones too
I always wondered why my parents always drank tea whatever the heat - they said it was more refreshing!
