Controversial one, this, and if you are reading this in the UK I need to state that it is illegal to use vegetable oil for fuel without paying the appropriate tax on it.
So now you know what this tip is - I will explain it hypothetically as different countries are sure to have different rules. The bottom line is.....
| Top Tip: |
| Diesel engines, apparently, can run on vegetable oil. As they have been engineered to run on diesel you would need to mix the oil with the normal fuel - in a ratio of 40% oil to 60% diesel. Its best to mix when there is plenty of diesel in the tank, otherwise the heavier oil can clog the injectors. Seeing as in the UK we are looking a 96p a gallon where the oil is 18p....... take a moment to do the maths on a 100 mile journey |
I am not responsible for any damage should you wish to try this out - you do so at your own risk, but search the web and you will find tens of thousands of people who do this, I know people who are doing this with brand new £22,000 motors.
If anyone has done this for themselves, lets hear about it! Apparently the only downside is a faint smell of cooking while stuck in traffic.......
