My Pa reckons slugs are the worst problem, and they are lazy beggars and will go for the nice newly planted young plants. Time to defend!

| When planting new plants create a barrier around the base with gravel. This will not inhibit the plants growth or access to water, but will stop slugs atacking as they dont like going over sharp edges. You can also you bark or woodchips. |
Does anyone else know ways of stopping pests without resorting to artificial or chemical means?
